REAL GOLD?

Is your Gold real?
Gold Authenticity
The most obvious way to determine the authenticity of gold is to look for a purity mark. Be careful,  even if your piece  marked 14k or 18k it doesn't mean it's genuine gold.  Some jewelry is mismarked to mislead the public.
Real Gold is not Magnetic!
Check your piece ( especially jewelry) with a magnet.  Real gold will not be attracted to the magnet. Gold does not contain iron and not magnetic. If in doubt let our professional staff appraise your suspected gold for you.
Tarnishing and Color Variations
Real gold does not tarnish.  If you see a different  color or shade of metal it is generally not real gold.  Plated gold jewelry can tarnish over time and can also chip and flake.
Karat Markings
The majority of real gold is marked with a karat - usually a small mark can be found somewhere. Try using a magnifying glass and use good lighting when looking for the mark.
